Obituary for Edward Palen

Edward Palen, 94, of Elyria passed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday May 20, 2021 at O’Neill Healthcare in Bay Village following a brief illness. He was born March 24, 1927 in Lorain and was a lifelong area resident. Ed worked at Pfaudler Manufacturing in Elyria in management and sales for many years, retiring in 1987. He served in the United States Navy during W.W. II, was an active member of the Abbe Road Baptist Church in Elyria and enjoyed visiting the Metroparks and polka music. He is survived by his daughter, Marsha (Mike) Herring. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera in 2005, sister, Josephine Belt, and brothers, John and Chester Palen. Friends will be received on Monday May 24, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 p.m. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Facial coverings and social distancing will be required. Burial will follow at Ridgehill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Abbe Road Baptist Church, 670 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH. 44035. Online condolences may be expressed at
