Obituary for Cecil Sherman Reaser Jr.

Cecil S. Reaser Jr. 88, of Elyria passed away unexpectedly on Saturday July 3, 2021. He was born April 11, 1933 in Glenville, West Virginia. He moved to Elyria in 1951 where he met and married the love of his life, Joan Rothgery. Cecil served honorably in the Unites States Air Force, and had earned an Associate Degree while in Germany. He was a gifted businessman with diverse talents throughout his life. Cecil was a successful insurance agent and real estate developer, Chief Financial Officer at American Hood Systems, he helped start Outdoor Product Innovations, and was a co host with Outdoor Option TV Show. He had a private pilot’s license and was an accomplished pilot. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed and attended all his kids, grandkids and great grandkids sporting events. Cecil was a devoted, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and was known as Gramps,Grandpa Sherm and Big Bompa. He was a friend to many people. His love for his family was evident in everything he did. His entire family meant the world to him. He was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting and fishing, which he loved sharing with his family. His passion was travelling all over North America especially fishing trips to Canada and hunting trips throughout North America. He was a master fly fisherman and an accomplished archer. Cecil was also an author and wrote “The Life and Times of Cec Reaser Jr.” He was a member of St. Jude Church in Elyria. Survivors include his sons; Dan Reaser Sr. (Mila), Tony Reaser (Karlene), a daughter; Nancy Reaser all of Elyria. Additional survivors include thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and the sixth due in December; a brother; James Reaser (Nicki) of WV., and a son in law; Mark Meecha. Brother-in-Law, Don Rothgery (Marcia), Sister-in-Law Mary Andrewski (Bob) all of Elyria. Cecil was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years; Joan C. (nee: Rothgery), a son; Steve, and a daughter; Shari Meecha, his parents; Cecil S. Sr. and Orvilla (nee: Adams) Reaser, and two brothers; Billy Joe and Thomas Reaser. The family will receive friends from 2-7 PM Sunday July 11, 2021 at The Laubenthal Mercado Funeral Home 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57) Elyria (440)322-4626. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Monday July 12, 2021 at St. Jude Church 590 Poplar St. Elyria where The Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Reverend Father Charles J. Ryba, and Reverend Father Allan R. Laubenthal will concelebrate. (Please meet at Church) Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria where the United States Air Force and V.F.W. Post#1079 will provide full military honors.
