Beatrice E. “Bea” Plas, (nee-Amspaugh), 93, of Elyria passed away Monday January 11, 2021 at the Abbewood in Elyria following a brief illness. She was born June 3, 1927 in Payne, OH. And was an Elyria resident for most of her life. Bea retired from the Elyria Medical Center where she was the Division Manager of outpatient services as well as numerous other positions. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria, a 1948 graduate of the former M.B. Johnson School of Nursing in Elyria and also the Alumni Association of the school. Bea enjoyed bowling and was inducted into the Elyria Bowling Hall of Fame and also enjoyed sewing. Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Wolf-Dove; son, Larry (Cathy Jo) Plas; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Janis White, Patricia Jackson, Emma Knowlton and Helen Stephanick. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene in 1988, son, Tim Plas in 2006, grandson, Brian Wolf in 2020 and brothers, John and Jim Amspaugh. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday January 15, 2021 at St. Mary Church. The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick will be the Celebrant. Private burial will follow at LaPorte Cemetery, Carlisle Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria.
